Formelle forudsætninger:Participants must have programming experience in Java or C++ corresponding to at least two semester courses and be familiar with object oriented programming.

Knowledge of computer hardware is an advantage.
Læringsmål:In this course the student will learn how to design and implement applications for mobile phones running the Symbian Operating System. The goal of the course is to enable participants to actively design and create programming abstractions based directly on the hardware, for instance for graphics and communication support. In particular, the student will obtain an understanding of Symbian user interfaces as well as the Symbian memory management and communication architecture, which will enable the student to apply the Symbian tools to develop solid applications for the platform. The language used for development is C++.

Furthermore, participants will get an understanding of a modern operating system. This understanding will enable them to describe and discuss the main functions of systems software and operating systems.

Fagligt indhold:The main part of the course is focussed on programming projects for implementing programming abstractions.

There will be lectures and seminars on the principles behind programming abstractions as well as reading of documentation of existing packages.

Eksamensform og -beskrivelse:X. experimental examination form (7-scale; external exam), Bestået/ikke bestået, Ekstern censur

During the course there will be four written exercises of which the final one is used as basis for the evaluation of the student (passed / not passed). The three initial mandatory written exercises must be completed and acknowledged by the course responsible in order to be allowed to hand in the fourth one. On all exercises students are allowed to work in groups of at most two persons.
