Læringsmål:Having completed this course the student is able to explain and apply the following concepts, necessary to develop functional elements for multimedia systems, which use audio, image, speech, and tactile input/output in the human/system interface:

  • analog to digital and digital to analog conversion of signals,

  • the discrete time representation of a signal,

  • the output of a discrete time system as a convolution,

  • the auto- and crosscorrelation,

  • the z-transform and finite, and infinite impulse response filters,

  • the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT),

  • frequency domaine representation of filters,

  • spectral analysis of signals by using the FFT.

Læringsaktiviteter:

Lectures (before noon) and exercises (afternoon). The exercises are carried out in teams of two students.

NB! In the introductory week, meaning from 27 August to 2 September 2004, exercises from 13:00 to 16:00 are cancelled. This means, that there will be only lectures from 9:00 to 12:00

Eksamensform og -beskrivelse:X. experimental examination form (7-scale; external exam), 13-skala, Intern censur

Oral examination with 0.5 hour preparation, with
access to the course material and notes. It is allowed to bring one page A4 prepared during the preparation time, into the examination room.

The duration of the examination is approx. 20 minutes.

Exercises number 3 to 9 must be approved (pass/fail) prior to the oral examination. The exercises are handed in no later than the last day in the 12 weeks course period.
