This course is only open for prof. master's students and diploma students that has not taken the course "Innovation og konceptudvikling"

A minimum of 2 years of relevant full time work experience is required, since the work experience will be part of the teaching.

 
Læringsmål:By the end of this course, the student should be able to:
- identify strategic innovation opportunities,
- analyze the business environment of innovations,
- use appropriate design planning tools and frameworks,
- develop a strategic innovation plan, including a business model that is thorough, persuasive and viable in terms of design, technology, profitability (or alternative measures of success) and adoption, and
- communicate your analyses and innovations articulately, efficiently and persuasively in multimodal texts 
Fagligt indhold:Please note, that due to technical challenges, changes may occur before the start of the semester (week 35) – this applies to all sections of the course description.

This course introduces you to business aspects of design, including design's ability to solve business problems, increase competitiveness, and come up with innovations that are both desirable for users and viable in business terms. Course themes include theories and models of innovation, identification of innovation opportunities, competitive analysis and strategy development, business model development, economic value creation by design, application of design methods and tools to a wide range of organizational problems, and the role of design as an agent of social change. With a team-based, hands-on approach, you will design new products or services from initial framing to final solution proposals, using tools and methods for analyzing and visualizing the forces that affect organizations and innovation as well as for developing design concepts and related business models. 
Læringsaktiviteter:

The course consists of lectures, workshops, and independent group work. The lectures and workshops will take place in 2 weekends (Saturday + Sunday) in the fall. You are required to work in groups outside the scheduled lecture days and meet the course instructor.
Lectures will provide you with the concepts and tools to understand the business environment and identify strategic innovation opportunities. Workshops will allow you to engage with different design planning tools and frameworks. Group work will enable you to collaborate with a team of peers in developing a strategic innovation plan as well reflecting on how you can communicate such innovations to different audiences.

Eksamensform og -beskrivelse:C: Skriftlige arbejder uden mundtlig eksamen., (7-scale, internal exam)

C exam: Submission of essay and innovation plan.
