Formelle forudsætninger:Please note that this course is only available for students enrolled in the programme Digital Innovation & Management and signed up for the 1st course of the specialisation Process Innovation and New Business Models. 
Læringsmål:After the course the students should be able to:

1. Discuss theories and frameworks for business model design and analysis focusing on:
a. how value is created, delivered and captured in the specific business model
b. if/how a specific business model change the organizational boundaries and/or created new partner networks
c. if/how digital technologies create or enable new possibilities for executing and governing inter-organizational transactions
d. how current and prospective developments in the digital arena may provide opportunities for new business models
2. Reflect on how theories and frameworks covered in the two specialization courses may be applied in a specific empirical setting in order to analyses a specific issue or provide recommendations for an innovation initiative
3. Conduct a project researching a course relevant subject..
4. Based on the project work, be able to describe and discuss a master thesis synopsis 
Fagligt indhold:The aim of the theoretical part of the course is to provide the students the skills to sense and understand how digital technologies create or enable radically new business models, new possibilities for executing and governing inter-organizational transactions, reshape organizational boundaries, and make new partner networks possible. Economic and social elements of business models will be covered. As a concept “Business model” is currently applied to companies as well as the public sector and non-profit organizations, and cases form all these areas will be included in the course. Case studies are an essential part of the course and may include business models like: Collective business models, Open business models, Cooperate-NGO collaboration, Social entrepreneurship, Government agencies and Bricks and clicks business models. Relevant research methods for empirical research will be covered considering the nature of the actual student projects. 
Læringsaktiviteter:

The theoretical part of the course will be taught as 12 sessions. Each session will have 2 hours of lecture and 2 hours of exercises. Lectures will be a mix of regular lectures given by the course teachers, guest lectures and case based presentations held by the teachers. In addition the students have to conduct a project researching a course relevant topic. A few workshops will be conducted focusing on the students project work, and finally the students will be offered supervision for their projects.

Activities
Four mandatory assignments have to be handed in: a synopsis with a project plan and three assignments. Deadlines for the mandatory exercises and the detailed requirements for each exercise will be presented at the introduction to the course and will be posted on the course blog.

What if the student fails to pass a mandatory activity:

Be aware: The student will receive the grade NA (not approved) at the ordinary exam, if the mandatory activities are not approved and the student will use an exam attempt.

The hand-in is drafted by groups of one to four students. A report should be approximately 15 pages plus 2 pages per student (i.e. one student 17 pages, two students 19 pages etc.).

Duration of exam: 30 minutes per student incl. assessment and feedback.
