Formelle forudsætninger:Previoius completion or simultaneous enrollment in a introduction to programming course at the IT University or equivalent is recommended but not necessary.
Simple scripting in Javascript is used. Java is beneficial but not required.
 
Læringsmål:The goal of the course is to learn how to design and build an interative 3D scenegraph based realtime graphics system, and to script and program interactive capabilities into interactive 3D applications.

An additional goal is to understand the expressive capabilities the medium in relation to the component media types it uses, and to other existing linear media.

Having completed the course the student has
- Ability to design production in interactive 3D
- Ability to integrate media types in interactive 3D environments.
 
Fagligt indhold:The course will be practical in nature but with a simultaneous basic exploration of simple underlying graphics principles. Some of the topics covered will be Transforms, Appearance, Camera, Lights, Geometry, Terrain, Fog, Texture Mapping, Sensors, Switches, Key-Frame Animation Timers and Interpolators, Text, Sound and Video, defining new nodes, and Scripting in Javascript and Java.

In addition, there will be some emphasis on broad conceptual structures underlying 3D systems, and an exploration of the media theory emerging regarding non-deterministic narrative, as well as the role of Artificial Intelligence software.

 
Læringsaktiviteter:12 forelæsninger og 12 øvelsesgange

Two combined lecture-labs per week. Each class will have significant hands-on instruction. Since the orientation of the hands-on work can either be practical or artistic, students of DKM are encouraged to follow the course.

NB! In the introductory week, meaning from 31 January to 4 February 2005, exercises are cancelled. This means, that the course will run from 9:00 to 12:00.  

Eksamensform og -beskrivelse:X. experimental examination form (7-scale; external exam), 13-skala, Ekstern censur

The students will receive a selection of questions around the last class.

At the examination the student picks a randomly chosen question from the set of questions (prepared at home), and the student will then have an app. 20 minutes oral exam.
