Læringsmål:After the course, students should be able to:
- identify different shot-types and articulate their cinematic purpose

- apply principles of audio-visual editing

-organize and develop a moving image-based project (including sound)

-analyze formal properties of moving images

-critically discuss how different moving image genres construct emotion and meaning 
Fagligt indhold:This course provides an introduction to theory, analysis and production of moving image genres, covering feature films, short films, documentary, TV advertisements, music videos and cinematic poetry.

We will cover the fundamental aspects of pre-production (the planning of a shoot – scriptwriting, storyboarding, props, costumes), production (directing and working with actors, screen language, cinematography, lighting, sound recording) to post-production (editing, sound-mixing).

Please note: ITU can provide audio, but no video recording equipment. All exercises and the examination can successfully be completed with smart phones. If you have cameras at your disposition, you are free to bring them to class and use them. 
Læringsaktiviteter:14 ugers undervisning bestående af forelæsninger, øvelser og vejledning

The course will combine lectures on film theory and screen language with film screenings, and several short moving image productions. 

Obligatoriske aktivititer:2 film reviews, each 800-1000 words. Individual assignment.
A film review is a critical analysis that interprets the form and content of a film in respect to its narrative, audio-visual and cinematic techniques.

Participation in one group presentation that presents a film review in class.

Be aware: The student will receive the grade NA (not approved) at the ordinary exam, if the mandatory activities are not approved and the student will use an exam attempt. 
Eksamensform og -beskrivelse:CG: Skriftlige arbejder i grupper uden mundtlig eksamen., (7-scale, external exam)

Ca. 5 minute moving image production (in groups of 4-5), including script and storyboard. This group production is accompanied by an individual 1500-2000 word discussion in which you apply your theoretical knowledge of visual storytelling and cinematic techniques to justify and elaborate on the creative choices you have taken.
