Læringsmål: The aim of the course is to provide students with a basic understanding of IS security. Central to this understanding is the need to appreciate security from a social-technical perspective. Rather than addressing the subject at a purely technical level, the course will illustrate the need to acknowledge the related social context in which the various technical safeguards are embedded. This holistic approach affords a coherent perspective from which to understand IS security. Hence, the course will examine schemas, concepts and principles that help to explain the social-technical approach. Aside from developing the holistic perspective, the course will examine those elements, which together, constitute IS security. These elements include, for example, risk management, security policies, security technologies (e.g. biometrics and intrusion detection systems) and business continuity planning.
Fagligt indhold: Introduction:
The changing nature of IS security risks.
Defining the IS security agenda: Models and concepts.
Theory in IS security.
Risk analysis and management.
Security standards and policies.
Security education and awareness.
Business continuity planning.
Security technologies.
Hackers and social engineering.

A series of lectures, covering the above content, will act as the foundation for the course. However, in an attempt to provide a more interactive learning environment, students will be involved in class exercises, group presentations and Q&A sessions. These activities will help to develop and engender the themes and concepts addressed in the lectures.
