Fagligt indhold:The objective of the course is to introduce to organization theory and to phenomenological and practice oriented approaches to analyzing technology, interaction and innovation in organizations. In the first part of the course we will concentrate on a metaphorical perspective on organization theory as developed by Gareth Morgan. We will look at the implications of applying a mechanical as well as an organic perspective, and on how the idea of the computer, and ideas of culture and power have influenced design of organizations. The second part takes as point of departure debates within Human Computer Interaction on how to understand social and sociotechnical aspects of interaction. We will focus on phenemonological and pragmatic contributions to understanding action/interaction, cooperation, technologies, formalization, classification and standards, among other things, and how those ideas can be put to use in analyzing organizational settings. The objective of the course is to develop students’ ability to manoeuvre in organizations and understand IT as a sociotechnical phenomenon.
