Formelle forudsætninger:Please notice. It has finally been decided, that this course is held in Danish. The course corresponds to the EBUSS-course "B9 - Knowledge Management" held in English.

The course on DØK second semester in IT innovation provides the basic foundation for participation in this course. In the IT innovation course the students have been given a basic introduction to the concepts of e.g. knowledge, knowledge intensive organizations and the issues of knowledge creation and learning.
In this course we take a broader view of knowledge management as a business process that applies to traditional as well as knowledge intensive organizations. The focus for the course is therefore not solely on knowledge creation and innovation but also on knowledge mobilization and transfer of knowledge.
The students will be asked to (critically) reflect upon and use the concepts of knowledge and management by actively participating in the discussion of cases.
And finally the course will emphasize the role of IT in supporting knowledge management strategies and provide specific examples of the challenges for designing and implementing IT knowledge management solutions.

Læringsmål: Managing knowledge is a major concern for organizations today. Whether knowledge is understood as a resource or a process, it is generally accepted that organizations should spend resources on managing existing knowledge and creating new knowledge in order to stay competitive. Knowledge intensive organizations are emphasized as crucial for the continuous development of society as we loose low skill jobs to countries with lower wages on labor. This course focuses on how managers can best leverage the knowledge base of their organizations to build competitive advantages for their firms.
The course will enable the students to identify and create strategies for knowledge management with regards to organizations? different economic models, organizational structure, culture and processes. Furthermore the course will enable the students to consider design and implementation issues including the use of (as well as the limitations of) IT systems and the interaction between IT and other organizational support for knowledge management in the form of cultural and structural initiatives.
