Læringsmål:The course enables the participants to understand the fundamental rules of telecommunication and the dynamics of e-government applications. Telecommunication and Internet related services will be more significant in the future and the purpose of the course is to give the students some knowledge and guidelines to solve legal and business related problems in conjunction with the telecommunication business.

If a student expects to be working in a telecommunication company this course is relevant, and the student will be able to recognize all kind of problems related to the telecommunications business and how to navigate among a lot of legal rules in favour of the IT and telecommunications company. 
Fagligt indhold:The subject of the course is highly relevant to student at IT-U, if the student is specialising in telecommunication. The student will be able to identify and analyse the specific rules concerning telecommunication and the rules effect on the telecommunication business. The EC-competition law regulates the market for telecommunication in the European Union and the rules are important for the companies in the telecommunication business. Thus, the course comprises EC law in general, EC-competition law and national telecommunication law.



More specific the scope of the course is:

  • The sources of IT- and telecommunication law

  • The main principles in the legal rules

  • Media convergence

  • Competition law in the European Union

  • Competition law in the USA

  • Competition law and the impact of telecommunications law in the European
    Union and Denmark

  • Payment by inter active media and the consumer problems

  • Consumer protection

  • Cyber crime, international relations and responsibility



The course targets telecommunication law from the perspective of software development, consultancy and project management and will be relevant for the student expecting to work in those kinds of companies in the future. The participants will through the course be able to know the rules well enough to work in the telecommunication business, as consultants, and in hard- and software companies. There will be strong European, American and Danish element to the examples in the course.

Oral exam based on an individual paper (synopsis)in English or Danish.
