Læringsmål:Students that follow this project cluster will be able to:
- describe the key characteristics of the digital power grid (incl. power and IT engineering issues, human impact, business issues)
- relate their project to the state of the art in the field
- evaluate the impact of their work from a qualitative point of view

Project cluster.
This is a the project cluster: You sign up for this project cluster as if for a normal course. You will also need to enter your project agreement of a 7,5 ECTS project in the project base where it will be assessed by the supervisor and the Board of Studies.
The project cluster will not appear on your diploma but the project that you register in the project base will of course appear once you have passed the exam.
Fagligt indhold:Smart Grid, the digital power grid, is the necessary foundation of an electricity system that integrates massive renewable sources, demand response, and a sustainable fossil-free society. The digitization of the power grid requires a fundamental change in the IT systems that monitor, control and audit the infrastructure, and in the IT systems that manage user data. It constitutes a fundamental change in the nature of the electricity market and thus requires new forms of regulations and business models. Last but not least, it requires a thorough understanding of customers behavior to guide the design of new technical, business and communication solutions. In summary, the advent of Smart Grid requires breakthrough in terms of IT engineering, business models and customer models.

At the IT University of Copenhagen, our core competences are at the boundaries of science, business and the arts. We are ideally positioned to tackle the combination of breakthroughs that are needed in the context of Smart Grid. In the context of this ITU MSc students that follow a specialization in software development, design and interaction, or games are exposed to each other’s viewpoints when working on Smart Grid projects. These projects can be any forms of project ranging from MSc thesis to 7,5 ECTS project.

Lectures will be organized on various topics connected to the Smart Grid, by ITU researchers and external partners (from industry as well as research). Emphasis will be put on methods to qualify the impact of the students project.
