Formelle forudsætninger:The project cluster is open to SDT (SE track) students who have previously passed or at the same time are following the course Distributed Collaboration and Development.

The project groups will be formed during the first week of the course. Students will be notified via e-mail prior to this event.

This is a mandatory backbone cluster for all SDT SE track students.

Project cluster
This is a project cluster: You sign up for this project cluster as if for a normal course. You will also need to enter your project agreement of a 15 ECTS project in the project base before the general deadline for project agreements. Project agreements will be assessed by the supervisor and the Board of Studies.
The project cluster will not appear on your diploma but the project that you register in the project base will of course appear once you have passed the exam.

Information about the course of study
Development Technology track
This course is part of a specialization on the Master of Science in IT, study programme Software Development and Technology, Development Technology tracki.

Software Engineering track
This course is mandatory for students who are enrolled on the Software Engineering track. 
Læringsmål:Each project group should agree on a set of intended learning outcomes with their supervisor. It is the responsibility of the supervisor to make sure that at least half of the learning outcomes correspond to the expectations of the partner supervisor abroad. The intended learning outcomes should be stated in the project agreement in ITU's Project Base.


EXAMPLE of Intended Learning Outcomes:


After the project cluster the student should be able to;

  • Identify and characterise the organizational patterns that apply to geographically and culturally distributed teams
  • Identify cultural differences and explain how they can be to turned into advantages
  • Apply the above theory by participating in and managing a distributed software project
  • Develop [...a product related to a specific subject area]
  • Discuss the theoretical concepts of [a specific subject area]
  • Reflect on practical experience in relation to a collaboration plan and argue for choices in both plan and actual collaboration experience
  • Describe how IT security and backup issues were handled throughout the project
 
Fagligt indhold:This is a hands-on project without mandatory lectures. Optional lectures will be scheduled for students who want instructional support and contact time for support in learning the Eiffel programming language, the EiffelStudio IDE, and rigorous systems design and development.

Students from the IT University of Copenhagen and a partner university will work together in teams that are distributed geographically and culturally. Together the teams will work on a large scale software project.

The coordinating university for the Fall semester is ETH Zurich. 
Læringsaktiviteter:

During the first week of the semester all students will meet and form project groups.

The first meeting will take place (to be announced).

During the semester, students will work on a distributed software development task together with students from a partner university in self-organised teams.

Supervisors can choose to require that student teams organise a "release party" by the end of the semester to present the results of their work together with the partner team abroad.
