Formelle forudsætninger:Unfortunately, the course is cancelled. Interested students are most welcome to sign up for the project cluster "Internet Technologies in Organisations and Communities".

As a prequisite to the course, students should have a basic grasp of programming (e.g., data modelling, objected-oriented programming, web programming, XML).
In addition, a basic understanding of network technologies and work analysis (e.g. Design and Designers/Participatory Design) is advantageous.

Læringsmål:The course gives students a conceptual
foundation for analyzing cooperative work and
for designing IT-based systems that support
interaction, communication, coordination,
information sharing, etc. among cooperating
actors.

The course aims at developing an
understanding of the sophisticated practices by
means of which cooperating actors coordinate
and integrate their activities. After the course the students will be able to identify and avert potential problems that the introduction of IT often causes.

The course enables students to analyze and deal with the complex relationship
between the characteristics of the use situation and the limitations and possibilities of the technology.

Fagligt indhold:In the course participants are introduced
to and discuss
(a) theories and
conceptual frameworks of cooperative work,

(b) empirical studies of
cooperative work, and
(c) collaboration
technologies such as shared
workspaces, coordination technology (workflow
systems), document repositories, etc.

Students will be introduced to a collection of
classical and more recent papers from the
CSCW research literature.

Participants will work with a conceptual framework
that will enable them to undertake a systematic
analysis of a cooperative work setting and to
discuss relevant forms of IT support for this
setting.

Læringsaktiviteter:

8 lectures and discussions in plenum; group discussions; group work on assignments, resulting in written group reports.

After the first four lectures, the students will produce an interim report with a comparative analysis of three of the cases discussed in the course.

After the following four remaining lectures, the students will work intensively, for the rest of the course, with a final report outlining a conceptual design based on the interim report.

The obligatory literature is in English. Non-Danish students interested in learning
the curriculum of the course are invited to do so in the form of a 12 or 16 week
