Students will have to prepare for lectures by reading the IVK chapter as well as other cases to be discussed on that day. Students are also required to present at least two templates from the DeMarco book (see below) in class and provide an evaluation of the template. In the ten exercises, students will have to work in groups developing a Harvard style teaching case based on a real situation in a company to be identified by the students themselves. In exceptional cases, the instructors might be able to help in identifying a suitable case. Student groups will have to develop 1) case description, 2) analysis of the key issues including relevant solutions (often referred to as teaching notes) plus 3) PowerPoint presentation of case and proposed solution.
The exam consists of a written group submission of case (including case analysis and case description) plus an individual oral examination based on the case. For the oral exam, students will be expected to have a PowerPoint presentation addressing one of the typically four questions of the case. It is expected that the group will develop the presentations, but it will be presented by one of the students. This will be the starting point of the oral examination. Date of oral examination TBA.
