Formelle forudsætninger: | An understanding of story boarding, flowcharting (the ability to structure and implement ideas).
Perform basic image editing tasks ¿ including alpha channels and gif-animation
Ability to design, implement and structure a simple html site. (It is not necssary that the student is proficient in html, but rather that they understand the structure behind a web site)
It isn¿t required that students have programming experience, but students with no programming experience should be prepared to make an extra effort.
Students who wish to work from home must obtain a version of Flash MX (a 30 day trial version can be downloaded from www.macromedia.com). |
Læringsmål: | After completing the course the student should:
Be able to use the tools of Macromedia Flash to create an interactive multimedia production for the Internet.
Identify possibilities and problems that arise when communicating with motion graphics.
Have established a basic understanding of the fundamentals of ActionScript that will serve as a solid foundation for further learning.
Plan and implement an Internet based multimedia project, including communicating the ideas and structure with the help of storyboards and flowchart. |
Fagligt indhold: | The course considers the technical and visual capabilities of vector based graphics and ActionScript, and uses these, among other things, to examine linear and interactive communication.
Introduction to animation theory, composition and interface design.
Examines both the possibilities and potential, and problems and limitations of using multimedia in communication.
Establish an understanding of the technical aspects of publishing multimedia on the Internet.
Introduction to basic programming concepts and how these can be utilized to build dynamic applications. |
Læringsaktiviteter: | Lectures, tutorials, exercises, readings, and compulsory assignments.
The course is a combination of net-based education and 6 seminars at IT-højskolen. The seminars take place from 9:00 am ¿ 16:00pm on Saturday. The class will meet at IT-C for seminars on the following dates: Feb 22, March 8, March 22, April 5, April 12, April 26
Net-based education places different demands on the student than traditional learning does. Students must be willing to participate in online discussions, and most importantly, willing to actively seek help in the online help forum when they run into problems. |
Eksamensform og -beskrivelse: | X. experimental examination form (7-scale; external exam), 13-skala, Ekstern censur The exam for this class is in the form of a final project, which is an individual multimedia production.
The production should demonstrate the three aspects of a successful multimedia product for the Internet: a well thought out concept; a design that lives up to the concept ; and a logical and organized construction.
Aside from the project the student should complete:
-a storyboard and/or flowchart for the product.
-a 2-4 page report that describes the projects background, target group, purpose/goals and technical requirements.
Production, report, storyboard and flow-chart must be turned in at the latest Friday May 2. 2003 kl. 12 at the Examination Office
The final project is judged by an external censor; grades are given according to the 13-scale.
Compulsory assignments have to be approved in order for the student to turn in the final project, but are not part of the grading for the class. There will be 2 or 3 compulsory assignments during the semester.
