Formelle forudsætninger: | There are no formal prerequisites for this course although we will be doing some 3D modeling so if you have no experience with software like 3D Max it will require more of your time to learn. You really just need the ability to learn the software tools we are looking at in a reasonable timeframe. |

After the course the student should be able to:
- Create their own outdoor environments using industry tools and processes.
- Discuss notions of contemporary landscape in relation to the task of world building.
- Discuss and hypothesise how to create different types of outdoor environments using industry tools and processes.
- Develop a workflow connecting the tools and design aspects of world building.

Fagligt indhold: | This course description is under development.
As the scale and sophistication of game worlds has grown, it has taken us out of the framerate friendly corridors of the past and into a world of wide open landscapes that are currently being explored across the breadth of game development. The development environments of most 3D game engines use an outdoor heightmap editor as standard now.
This course explores the creation of those landscapes, and will provide students with enough knowledge and understanding that they are able to further develop environments of their own, or better work together with those that do.
Using Contemporary Landscape Photography as a launching pad, each student will produce an outdoor location while learning current tools and processes.
