Læringsmål: Having completed this course the student is able to explain and use the following concepts, necessary to develop functional elements for multimedia systems, which use audio, image, speech, and tactile input/output in the human/system interface:analog to digital and digital to analog conversion of signals,the discrete time representation of a signal,the output of a discrete time system as a convolution,the auto- and crosscorrelation,the z-transform and finite, and infinite impulse response filters,the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT),frequency domaine representation of filters,spectral analysis of signals by using the FFT. Fagligt indhold: Lectures: What is Digital Signal Processing? The Concept of Frequency in Continuous and Discrete Time. Analog-to-Digital and Digital-to-Analog Conversion. Discrete Time Signals and Systems. Analysis of Linear Time Invariant Systems. Implementation of Discrete Time Systems. Correlation of Discrete Time Signals. The Z-transform and Digital Filters (I). The Z-transform and Digital Filters (II). Frequency Analysis and the FFT (I). Frequency Analysis and the FFT (II). Available.Problem classes before noon on problems closely related to the lecture.Exercises in the afternoon:The exercises are carried out in the programming language Matlab, which is, among others, used for efficient graphical visualization of signals and functions. Introduction to Matlab. Elementary Discrete-Time Signals. Periodic Signal Generators. Sum, Scaling and Power of Signals. Response of Linear Time Invariant Systems. Correlation and Time Delay Effects in Signals. Filters and the Z-transform. Filter Design and Characteristics (I). Filter Design and Characteristics (II). Frequency Analysis of Signals (I). Freqnency Analysis of Signals(II). Læringsaktiviteter: Lectures (before noon) and exercises (afternoon). The exercises are carried out in teams of two students. Eksamensform og -beskrivelse: X. experimental examination form (7-scale; external exam), 13-skala, Ekstern censurOral examination with 0.5 hour preparation, withaccess to the course material and notes. It is allowed to bring one page A4 prepared during the preparation time, into the examination room.The duration of the examination is approx. 20 minutes.Exercises number 3 to 9 must be approved (pass/fail) prior to the oral examination.
