This course will provide the students with an empirical as well as theoretical understanding of the concepts of knowledge and management and how knowledge management can and is practiced in organisations. Furthermore the course will enable the students to discuss various issues regarding the management of knowledge taking into consideration the type of organisation in question. These issues include but are not limited to issues of organisational culture, structure, people, technology and strategy.

The students will be presented with different IT solutions which support the management of knowledge, including intranet applications, content management systems, databases and groupware solutions. The presentations will provide the basis for discussing how and to what extend these solutions can support the management of knowledge ¿ both for the purpose of knowledge creation and knowledge reuse.

By completion of the course, the students will understand the complex process of managing knowledge and how this process can be supported by IT in integration with other organisational initiatives.
Fagligt indhold:The course is divided into three modules with each their specific focus:

Module A focuses on understanding the reasons for the interest in knowledge management, how the concepts of knowledge and management are understood in theory and in practice and what are the main challenges which companies face with regards to managing knowledge.
