Formelle forudsætninger:It is a requirement that you have followed the course Interaction Design or that you have similar qualifications, i.e.that your are able to:

- Plan and carry out minor design projects.
- Use a variety of analysis and design methods relevant for interactive products.
- Identify and reflect on a number of theoretical issues related to exploratory design processes.

Information about the course of study:

This course is mandatory for students who are enrolled on the Master of Science in IT, study programme Digital Design and Communication.
 
Læringsmål:By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Analyze and reflect on the choice and application of theoretical concepts of innovation, business model development, co-creation, design and creativity

  • Develop a case based business model canvas that is thorough, persuasive and viable in terms of design, technology, profitability (or alternative measures of success) and adoption.

  • Develop a strategic innovation plan that involves relevant stakeholders and demonstrates an understanding of resources required.

  • Conceptualize an innovative digital product or service involving a business partner and convey this concept through a concept video and meaningful prototype.

  • Understand, describe and discuss the structural contexts that matter for the creation and development of ideas about digital products/services. 
  • Fagligt indhold:In the course you will be introduced to historical perspectives, theories, and applied methods of innovation and how they relate to digital technologies.

    Theories and methods of business model generation and co-design will be presented providing you with the skillset to identify innovation opportunities, conduct an analysis of stakeholders and competition, to develop a business model and plan of co-design that allows you to interact, communicate and involve stake holders.

    On this foundation an innovative digital design will be developed. This design should be communicated in according to specifications (for instance a concept video, prototype and report).

    Finally, you will be introduced to theory and methods regarding social and strategic aspects of innovation providing you with the ability to engage in meaningful strategic planning procedures in social and commercial contexts. 
    Læringsaktiviteter:

    9 weeks of lectures, practice sessions and workshops.

    Lectures will be conducted primarily by the teacher, but will also involve student participation and student presentations. The exercise classes will involve working in small teams on toward to the final project report. 

    Obligatoriske aktivititer:Students are required to submit mandatory assignments throughout the semester in order to be eligible for the final exam. There will be 4 mandatory assignments - 3 short written reports and a prototype.

    The hand-in consists of:

    1. An Strategic Innovation Plan (Group submission)
    2. A meaningful communicative prototype (Group submission)
    3. Business Context Analysis Paper (Individual submission)
