| Læringsmål: | After completing this course the student can
- explain the basic concepts of analysis and manipulation of digital images and signals
- describe the related methods and algorithms
- apply these concepts in the development of multimedia systems
- do basic programming in Matlab

| Fagligt indhold: | The course covers basic topics in image and signal processing: analog to digital conversion of signals, histograms, contrast enhancement, filtering, frequency representation of filters, filter design, image and signal restoration, feature detection, local-, global- and multiresolution-analysis, morphological filtering, segmentation. The course gives an introduction to programming in Matlab as well as many hands-on exercises using Matlab.
Examples will be drawn from medical imaging, industrial vision, speech processing, and basic sound generation.

| Læringsaktiviteter: | 12 forelæsninger og 12 øvelsesgange Lectures, Matlab exercises, Class room exercises, mandatory assigments.
NB! In the introductory week, meaning from 29 August to 2 September 2005, exercises are cancelled. This means, that there will be only lectures from 16:00 to 18:30.

| Eksamensform og -beskrivelse: | X. experimental examination form (7-scale; external exam), 13-skala, Ekstern censur There will be several mandatory assignments which have to be approved but are not part of the grading (number tba).
