Fagligt indhold:Bornholm is teeming with entrepreneurial spirit. And the island houses large successful companies as well as a body of smaller up-and-coming business initiatives. In this way, Bornholm runs counter to global trends of primarily younger people constantly seeking into the large cities, while the outskirts remain populated mainly with the older generations.
This course offers an novel way of working with innovation and entrepreneurship, inspired by the recent successes of Bornholm. The course will be set in the scenic environs of the Bornholm Island in t3 weeks in the beginnning of August.

The course is offered in a unique collaboration between three universities: ITU, DTU, and KADK School of Design. You work in teams with students from the other universities and collaboration with businesses on Bornholm or to develop your own idea. The summer school runs over three weeks in August and you are on Bornholm from Sunday 7th and leave again Friday 19th in the evening.

The course caters to the challenge of grappling with concrete business challenges by means of a design approach. These challenges are set in the interface between local resources and expertise and the global business potentials these bear. To this end, the students’ leveraging of interdisciplinary know-how and dynamics will be an essential ingredient.
In collaboration with local companies on Bornholm as well as other potential stakeholders, students engage in tapping into, navigating and integrating diverse sources of knowledge and insights. This will be through addressing new business challenges and identifying undiscovered potentials. Through generative business modeling, the course activities conclude with a ‘company pitch’. To be presented is a concept and a business plan, delivered to the collaborating company.
