Formelle forudsætninger:This course is the second part of the specialization in 'Designing Interactive Artifacts'.

In order to participate in this course you must have completed the first part of the specialization in Designing Interactive Artifacts (Specialization Part I).


Experience with physical computing and simple programming will be an advantage, interest in hands-on working with technology and materials is important.
 
Læringsmål:After the course the student should be able to:
- Develop conceptually challenging topics and approaches
- Manage the design process and realization of the project
- Critically evaluate their own project and process as well as others
- Locate their project in a larger context with other similar approaches or relating projects
- Communicate and present their ideas and the project to colleagues and potential stakeholders 
Fagligt indhold:The students will critically explore the aesthetic and functional potential of technology through practice-based engagement in interaction design projects. The course will focus on developing conceptually challenging projects that initiate reflection on the social, economic, cultural and ethical impact of existing and emerging technologies.

The students will carry out a large-scale design project that is based on combination of physical artifacts, technology and humans. The aim is to develop a further understanding of interaction design and to develop strategies to apply this understanding to their projects. Critical viewpoints and approach in the project development are encouraged, which have a potential to inspire debates about the technology’s impact on humans; both positive and negative.

The students will be exposed to variety of theories, viewpoints and methods, and they will face challenges related to actual design and realization of the project.
The expected outcome is a finalized interactive artifact and presentation thereof.

Note that the location for the course will be the IM-lab; level zero / in the lobby of ITU building. 
Læringsaktiviteter:14 ugers undervisning bestående af forelæsninger, øvelser og vejledning

- Lectures by instructors and guest lectures
- Group work on project and related activities
- Weekly participation in critique sessions and discussions concerning one’s own as well as peers’ projects.
- Provided readings: course related reading and special group-related reading. This forms the course syllabus.
- Support on practical skills
- It is expected that the students participate actively in the class activities, discussions, critique sessions and project work carried out throughout the course. 

Obligatoriske aktivititer:-Every group must present at least 6 weekly presentations and/or demonstrations of project-in-progress in different phases of the project.
-Presenting the realized project in an exhibition planned and organized by the students.
-Each group must make at least 10 blog entries on project, research activity, sharing of ideas including images, video, sketches + text. 
Eksamensform og -beskrivelse:X. experimental examination form (7-scale; external exam), 7-trins-skala, Ekstern censur

D1GS Hand-in for groups with following oral exam. Shared responsibility for the report.

A report and presentation of the realized project by groups and an individual oral exam.

The duration of the oral exam is 30 minutes pr student
