| Læringsmål: | Most organizations need to purchase information technology, be it software, hardware, or both. The course deals with the project management of IT purchases. Several perspectives on project management will illustrate the similarities and differences when managing different kinds of projects. The text book deals with managing software development projects, i.e. the perspective of a provider. The lectures will deal with the purchase of software solutions, i.e. the perspective of a purchaser. In the course we will explore how a software purchasing project is similar to, different from, and intertwined with a software development project. The mini projects will elicit topics related to the procurement process as well as project management in general. |
| Fagligt indhold: | When the course is finished, the students will be able to
- describe the procurement process, it¿s phases and organizational setting
- describe the project manager¿s responsibilities in such a process
- compare a software procurement process and a software development process from a project management point of view
- use the Prince II framework as a basis for project management

| Læringsaktiviteter: | 12 forelæsninger + lejlighedsvis øvelser i forbindelse med undervisningen The students are expected to give plenary presentations of selected articles, and to present progress reports concerning their mini project as a basis for general discussions about project management. |
| Eksamensform og -beskrivelse: | X. experimental examination form (7-scale; external exam), 13-skala, Ekstern censur Oral exam based on a miniproject (individual or in a group), which must be handed in no later than Friday 24. November 2006 at 15:00, to the EBUSS Study secretariat at Howitzvej 60, 1st. floor, 2000 Frederiksberg.
