Formelle forudsætninger:This course is part of the fourth semester in the bachelor’s degree in Global Business Informatics. 
Læringsmål:After the course the students should be able to:

• Explain the aim and content of the different theoretical perspectives on process improvement taught in the course.

• Reflect on similarities and differences for the different theoretical perspectives on process improvement and the effect it may have when conducting process improvement in an organizational context.

In addition the students have to demonstrate (as part of the project work) that they can:

• Develop an appropriate research design for an improvement project in a specific organizational context reflecting upon different options and qualifying their decisions

• Define a relevant and adequate problem definition for an improvement initiative in a specific organizational context involving relevant stakeholders

• Facilitate/conduct an ample analyze of the current situation in a specific organizational context as a basis for suggesting actual improvements

• Develop and justify a plan/solution for an improvement initiative in a specific organizational context involving relevant stakeholders

• Perform an executive presentation of the result of their project work

• Reflect upon the project work; research design, process, result, learning ect.. 
Fagligt indhold:Continuously improving and innovating organizational processes is considered essential for organizational survival. Accordingly, many frameworks and theoretical perspectives exist for approaching such improvement initiatives. In this course, the students will learn about six such approaches: Design Thinking, Dynamic Capabilities, Lean Management, Maturity & Measurement, Six Sigma and, Soft Systems Methodology.

Learning in this course is organized around a student project that aims at improving an organizational process in a specific real-life context. The projects are carried out in groups. Each group will identify and define a relevant improvement initiative in close collaboration with its case organization, analyze the current situation of the chosen process and, based on the analysis, develop and justify a plan or a solution for improving the defined situation.

The project is supported by lectures, practices and readings on the theoretical perspectives chosen for this course as well as mandatory assignments that are directly related to the groups’ own projects.
Instruction for the projects will consist of exercise sessions organized around the mandatory assignments for the whole course and individual, on-demand instruction for the groups that request it.

What if the student fails to pass a mandatory activity: If a group’s mandatory assignment is returned late, the group is not eligible to have their assignment discussed and instructed in the related exercise class.

Be aware: The student will receive the grade NA (not approved) at the ordinary exam, if the mandatory activities are not approved and the student will use an exam attempt. 
Eksamensform og -beskrivelse:D2G Aflevering med mundtlig eksamen der supplerer projekt. Delt ansvar for projekt., (7-scale, external exam)

The duration of the oral examination is 40 minutes per examinee (incl. any group presentation).

Each student will receive one grade based on the project report and the individual oral exam in which the student defends the report and engages in discussion of the readings related to the course.
