| Læringsmål: | After the course the student should be able to:
1. Characterize the global context associated with mobile communication.
2. Analyze the functioning of mobile telephone handsets.
3. Describe the elements that make up a mobile communications network
4. At a broad level, reflect about the interaction between mobile telephone handsets and the mobile communications network.
5. Define other forms of radio-based communication.
6. Characterize the processes of gathering data (both qualitative and quantitative).
7. Characterize the processing and the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data. |
| Fagligt indhold: | The course will cover the following elements:
Introduction to the specialization- Mobile communication, ubiquitous computing and the focus of the specialization
Overview of mobile technology - Handset level
- Network level
Methods, data and statistics - Qualitative methods
- Quantitative methods
- Data collection
Assignments tying the foundation to the specialization- There will be four assignments during the semester
- The students will be asked to tie the material on the technical dimensions of mobile communication and the work on methods and data to the areas covered in the next semester.

| Læringsaktiviteter: | 14 ugers undervisning bestående af forelæsninger og øvelser 14 weeks teaching including lectures, reading discussions and exercises where students get practice with different metholodologies.
The teacher is responsible for holding lectures, finding relevant readings, and preparing the exams. It is the responsibility of the student to show up for class having read the expected material and be ready to discuss it in an intelligent manner.

| Eksamensform og -beskrivelse: | X. experimental examination form (7-scale; external exam), 7-trins-skala, Ekstern censur In order to be eligible to take the exam the student will have to complete a series of small assignments.
